Week 4 PDF Print E-mail
Drive Train/Chassis Team:   We began the assembly of our ultra-low cog chassis. It will be constructed of 30mm bosch extruded aluminum. Our ground clearance under the frame should be just a little over an inch. Allowing us to mount everything super low so that we are able to prevent the tipping of our bot from the likely massive arm that we have planned out. We are very proud of the design and how low everything is. When all said and done, the tallest point on the base-chassis should be 7" off the ground. Much lower than our alotted 12".

Programming/Electrical Team:   Nothing much happened in terms of electrical this week, mostly just the planning out of electronics board on Inventor.
In terms of programming, we got the gear-tooth sensor hooked up, and the interupts set-up for it. We also worked on tweaking the auto-centering of the steering some, however, appear to have messed it up a bit, so we have some work ahead of us next week to fix it.

Arm/Lift Team:   We started on yet another design on the arm. This is about our 4th prototyped design. This basically consists of two arms connected to create one large arm with a system of forks at the end of it to pick-up the ball. At this point, if this design does not pan out, we're likely not to go with any arm at all, and will end up turning the bot into a speed-bot.

Animation/CAD Team:   Nothing much happened in terms of CAD this week. Mostly just tidying up designs and such.
For animation, we got all the objects completed. Now the fun part begins!
